WBJEE 2014 or West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam is a common entrance exam conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board for getting admission into the undergraduate courses in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Medical / Dental and Pharmacy in universities or colleges in West Bengal. Thousands of students take the WBJEE exam every year. As per the GOVT. norms some seats in all the colleges under WBJEE 2014 exam will be reserved for the candidates belonging to reserved categories as per WBJEE 2014 Reservation of Seats. Reservation of Seats in WBJEE 2014: The reservation in WBJEE 2014 is for SC, ST, PWD Defense Category candidates. The GOVT. norms for the reservation of seats as follows – ST: 22%, SC: 6% and PwD: 3%.
For Scheduled Caste (SC) category: – 22 (twenty-two) percent of total Institutional Intake in the respective Course.
For Scheduled Tribe (ST) category: – 6 (six) percent of total Institutional Intake in the respective Course
For Person with Disability (PwD) category: – 3 (three) percent of total Institutional Intake in the respective Course
However, Altogether 12 seats are reserved for the Defense Quota out of which 7 seats will be reserved in Government Engineering & Technology Colleges of State, 2 seats shall be reserved at Jadavpur University and 3 shall be reserved at Bengal Engineering & Science University.
WBJEE 2014 Reservation norms 10% of the approved seats will be allocated to JEE Main 2014 merit rankers in all the self financing engineering and technology colleges of the state.
Candidates have to submit their certificates from which they belonging if they claim seats under WBJEE 2014 Reservation of Seats. If any candidate cannot produce his/her document then he/she will not be permitted to claim for reservation of seats in WBJEE 2014.
The candidates belong to PwD category (persons with disability) has to present his/her original medical documents in support of their disabilities and they will be certified by the authority. As the candidates suffering from the disability of 40% or above will be considered for PwD in WBJEE 2014 Reservation of Seats.
Reservation of seats for admission under Management Quota: Self Financing Engineering & Technology Colleges of the West Bengal State offering B. Tech / B. Pharm / B. Arch courses have been allowed to admit students directly by the Concerned Management from intending merit listed students fulfilling the required eligibility criteria as may be specified by the Higher Education Department of the State. Maximum number of seats available for such category is 10% of the approved intake. However, final status for availability of such seats may be notified in due course.
